Our Story

The Evie Foundation was born from the friendship of two women and the love they share for one extraordinary little girl.

Co-founders Kylee Toedtemeier and Mashaeyla Fuery witnessed firsthand the challenges families face when a loved one is incarcerated. As Evie's mother, Kylee has experienced the emotional and financial hardships of traveling hundreds of miles so her daughter can maintain a meaningful relationship with her father. As Kylee's best friend and someone who has been part of Evie's life since she was 18 months old, Mashaeyla has seen the profound impact incarceration has on children and the sacrifices families make to stay connected.

Together, they founded The Evie Foundation with one belief: no child should be separated from a loved one simply because the journey is too expensive.

While incarceration affects one individual, its impact reaches far beyond prison walls. Children are often the unseen victims, carrying emotional and financial burdens they had no part in creating. The Evie Foundation exists to support these children by helping families overcome the financial barriers to visitation and communication.

Our mission is simple: to keep families connected, strengthen relationships, and ensure every child knows they are loved, remembered, and never forgotten.
